Château Coutet 2019: 94-96/100

This has 142g/l residual sugar, with 11hl/ha used out of a total crop of 14.5 hl/ha. A polished, slightly burnished and convincing hue in the glass precedes an expressive nose, full toasted citrus fruits, sweetly grilled yellow plum, vanilla and elderflower. There is true sense of balance on the palate, showing a sense of sinewy substance, set against a lightly roasted bed of orchard fruits, with mineral veins and a bright acid vivacity. A very convincing wine, with great energy and substance, but most of all vigour, and a little length to it as well.
