Château Coutet 2022: 94/100
The terroir advantage of Barsac shines through in the hot 2022 vintage, with such a delicate mouthfeel that is rarely seen throughout the Sauternes region. The pure and abundant fruit aromas interweave into a rich and full-bodied melody, with notes of peach and orange marmalade as the leading roles. When swirling the glass, the hints of acacia honey and lily flower become apparent, as if they were accompanying mélodies surronding the main theme. Despite not having an outstanding acidity, there no sense of heaviness. With age, it may envolve into a rich and sweet flavor similar to that of the 2003 vintage.

The dry white from Sauternes showcase a rare freshness for the 2022 vintage. The aromatic lines are smooth and delicate, with ripe peachh and banana pear exuding a warm sweetness, while the fragances of grapefruit zest and kiwi add a refreshing livelibess to this wine. The mineral notesn which runs through the palate is vivid, offering a striking contrast to the roundness on entry of the palate. I’m delighted to find such energetic white wine with such light color-there’s Something endearing about this unexpected contrast.
