Decanter – Top Sauternes & Barsac 2018 wines: Re-tasted in the bottle
15 January 2021
Château Coutet 2018: 94/100
Deep in colour, with strong peach and apricot pit flavours, and welcome touches of almond bitterness on the finish that help things to lift off and take flight, because overall things are extremely concentrated here. 50% new oak was used. A yield of just 3hl/ha. Tasted twice. Drinking Window 2021 – 2034
Opalie de Château Coutet 2018: 94/100
A rich, round feel, appealing density through the palate, with layers of apricot, nectarine, saffron and a touch of noble bitterness on the finish. Great stuff. Drinking Window 2020 – 2026
