Wine Enthusiast – My Wine of the Bordeaux Vintage 2017
12 April 2018
Château Coutet 2017 Barrel Sample (Barsac); 95-97 points. This wine shows great balance and poised elegance. Its botrytis fruit gives it rich intensity, with a ripe orange-marmalade flavor and layers of tight acidity. This will be a wine for serious aging and not ready to drink before 2024. Roger Voss

Château Coutet 2014 – 97/100 Cellar Selection: Powered by intense botrytis, this wine is opulent and ripe, with spice, yellow fruit and honey flavors. It has just the right balance of acidity to maintain its shape and proportions. It’s likely to age well over many years.

Château Coutet 2015 – 18/20 Quite dense and spicy without being that sweet. Lots of density and extremely difficult to spit! Long and creditable. Good tanginess too. You could drink this already but that would probably be foolish. Lots of grip.

Château Coutet 2011 – 96 points Well balanced, this gorgeously ripe wine is packed full of fresh yellow fruits, ripe oranges and lemon. The fruit counterpoints the generous, dense structure that offers the dry core of botrytis. Acidity gives a line of freshness at the end.

Château Coutet 2016 – 19/20 Le nez très élégant évoque l’ananas frais. La matière est onctueuse et souple, tout en suavité et d’un raffinement singulier. Un vin de volume et de finesse qui s’impose comme la grande réussite de ce millésime.
